A Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) is a family of armored fighting vehicles designed for the U.S. Army and United States Marine Corps with the goal of surviving IED attacks and ambushes in Iraq.

The Buffalo mine resistant ambush protected vehicle was developed by the Force Protection Inc. It is a specialized route clearance vehicle, used for route-proving and to dispose discovered mines, IEDs and other explosive hazards. The Buffalo is based on the South African Casspir. It is classed as the Category III MRAP vehicle. Unites States currently operate 200 of these vehicles. It is also in service with Canada, France and the United Kingdom.

The armored vehicle has a V-shaped hull, that directs the force of the blast away from the occupants. The Buffalo can withstand a blast of 21 kg of TNT equivalent under any wheel or 14 kg anywhere under the hull. All-round protection is against 7.62-mm NATO rounds. Buffalos employed in combat zones are fitted with slat armor for additional protection against RPG rounds.

The Buffalo MRAP has a large articulated robotic arm, used for ordnance disposal. This hydraulically operated arm is used to handle suspicious items from a distance. It is fitted with an armed day/night video camera. Crew can safely investigate anything the arm can reach. The robotic arm is used to probe, remove or place destruction charges near possible landmines.

This MRAP vehicle has a crew of two and provides accommodation for four engineers. Occupants enter and leave the vehicle through the rear doors or roof hatches.
This is not some cheap wood toy, each model takes an average of 18 hrs to complete and is coated with 3 coats of polyurethane for a super high gloss finish. You will not find a better more detailed model than this.
